Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Baker Studios LLC, doing business as Baker Studios (“Baker Studios,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), handles information when you use Milo. Milo is currently in development, and this policy will be updated if its behavior changes before release.
The short version: Milo’s core features work without an account. Most shoe, runner-profile, and imported run data stays on your device. Connected services, accounts, purchases, and notifications are optional. Milo does not sell personal information or track you across apps and websites.
Data stored on your device
Milo stores your runner profile, shoe closet, shoe notes, preferences, connected-service status, and imported run details in its local app database. This information powers mileage tracking, foam-health estimates, shoe recommendations, rotation insights, notifications, and widgets.
Optional Apple Health and Strava connections
If you separately authorize Apple Health, Milo reads running workouts, distance, and heart-rate information needed to update mileage and recommendations. If you connect Strava, Milo accesses supported running activities such as distance, pace, workout type, and related activity details needed for those features. Milo requests only the permissions required for the connection you choose.
Health and fitness information imported by Milo remains in Milo’s local database and is not added to your optional Milo account. We do not use health or fitness data for advertising, data brokerage, or tracking. You can disconnect services and manage system permissions at any time.
Optional Milo account and referral features
You can use Milo’s core features without an account. If you choose to create one, our backend provider, Supabase, processes and stores account information such as your name, email address, user or account identifier, authentication provider, referral code and status, and server-issued entitlements. Authentication and service logs may also contain limited security diagnostics such as IP address, user agent, event time, request status, and error details.
We use this information to authenticate and secure your account, provide account-only and referral features, rate-limit abuse, investigate failures, verify referral progress, and restore server-issued entitlements. It is not used for third-party advertising or cross-service tracking.
Purchases
Apple processes purchases made through StoreKit. Milo receives signed transaction and entitlement information needed to unlock, verify, and restore digital features. Baker Studios does not receive or store your payment-card or bank-account details.
Notifications and widgets
If you grant notification permission, Milo may schedule reminders and shoe-related alerts on your device. Milo’s widgets use a shared on-device app container to display a limited snapshot of your shoe rotation and recommendations. You can change notification access in Milo or iOS Settings and can remove widgets at any time.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information. Information is shared only as needed to provide features you request, comply with law, or protect the service. Current service providers and platforms include:
- Apple, for Apple Health permissions, Sign in with Apple, StoreKit purchases, and operating-system services.
- Strava, when you choose to connect and synchronize supported running activities.
- Supabase, for optional account authentication, referral features, server entitlements, and related security logs.
These providers handle information under their own terms and privacy commitments. Any provider that processes data on our behalf is expected to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law.
Retention and deletion
Local Milo data stays on your device until you edit or delete it using an available control, or remove Milo and its data from the device. Connected-service credentials and status remain until you disconnect the service or remove the app, subject to the connected provider’s own controls.
If you create a Milo account, you can permanently delete it from Milo’s account settings. Account deletion revokes server sessions and deletes the active account, profile, referral code, referral progress, and server entitlements, subject to limited records we may retain when legally required or reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution. Local shoes and runs remain on your device because Milo works without an account. Deleting an account does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription; subscriptions are managed through Apple.
Your choices and rights
Account creation, Apple Health, Strava, notifications, widgets, and purchases are optional. You can deny or withdraw permissions, disconnect services, delete an optional account, and continue using available account-free features. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information.
To make a privacy request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please use a secure device passcode and protect the accounts you connect to Milo.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Milo develops, its providers change, or legal requirements evolve. We will post the revised policy at this URL and update the date above. Material changes will be reflected before or when the related app behavior takes effect.
