Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Baker Studios LLC, doing business as Baker Studios (“Baker Studios,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), handles information when you use Nudge.
The short version: Nudge works without an account. Assignments, notes, routines, plans, and completion history stay on your device. If you create an optional account, Nudge stores your account details, your private school calendar link, and your Nudge Early Bird subscription status so you can restore them on another phone. Apple handles all subscription payments; we never see your payment details. Nudge uses PostHog for usage analytics and crash diagnostics, which you can turn off in Settings. We do not send your assignment text, notes, private calendar links, name, or email to PostHog, and we do not record your screen. Nudge has no advertising and does not sell personal information or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
Information stored on your device
Nudge stores information you add or import, including assignment titles, courses, due dates, notes, source links, completion status, deadline changes, reminder choices, planned focus sessions, routine and quiet-hour settings, notification preferences, and calendar-sync status. It also stores the school calendar feed URL you provide. That URL can contain a private access token, so Nudge protects its local data file using iOS file protection.
This information powers your deadline list, reminders, daily summaries, focus plans, deadline-change notices, and widgets. Nudge does not upload your assignments, notes, routines, focus plans, or completion history to a Nudge account.
School calendar imports
You may import an iCalendar file or provide an HTTPS calendar feed URL, such as a calendar feed from Canvas, Schoology, Blackboard, Brightspace, Moodle, Sakai, ManageBac, Veracross or Blackbaud. When you connect a feed, Nudge downloads it directly from the address you provide when you connect, refresh, or use supported background refresh. The calendar provider and its network providers may receive ordinary request information such as your IP address, request time, and device or network details under their own policies.
Nudge reads supported event details from the feed, including assignment title, course, due date, notes or description, source URL, event identifier, cancellation status, and deadline changes. Calendar feeds may not report whether work was submitted, so completion status in Nudge is controlled by you. Nudge does not modify your courses, assignments, or submissions in your school’s platform.
Optional Nudge account
You can use Nudge without an account. If you sign in with Apple, Google, or an email code, our backend provider, Supabase, processes and stores account information such as your user identifier, email address, name when provided by the sign-in service, authentication provider, authentication credentials or tokens needed to maintain a session, and related security logs. Apple or Google also processes your sign-in under its own terms when you choose that option. Resend delivers sign-in-code emails and may process your email address and delivery information for that purpose.
While you are signed in, Nudge stores the school calendar feed URL associated with your account in Supabase. Because that URL can contain a private token, it is treated as sensitive. Row-level access controls are designed so an authenticated account can access only its own profile. The saved link lets Nudge restore the connection on another phone; imported assignments themselves remain on your device.
Nudge Early Bird subscription
Nudge Early Bird is an optional auto-renewable subscription. Apple processes the purchase, free trial, renewal, cancellation, and any refund through your Apple Account under Apple’s terms. We do not receive your name, card number, billing address, or other payment details from Apple.
On your device, Nudge uses Apple’s StoreKit to check whether you have an active subscription or free trial, which plan it is, and when it renews or ends, and keeps that status locally so Early Bird features work offline.
While you are signed in to an optional account, Nudge also stores an Early Bird record in Supabase: your subscription status (none, trial, active, or lapsed), plan, renewal or end date, whether it is set to renew, Apple’s original transaction identifier for the subscription, and whether you are an early Nudge user who keeps Early Bird free. We use this record to restore your Early Bird access on another phone, honor free access for early users, answer support requests, and prevent abuse. It is not used for advertising or tracking. Row-level access controls are designed so an authenticated account can read only its own record, and the app cannot grant itself early-user access.
Usage analytics and crash diagnostics
Nudge uses PostHog, a third-party analytics provider, to understand which screens and features people use, where setup or purchase flows stop, whether people return to the app, and where crashes or service failures occur. This helps us improve Nudge’s reliability and design. Analytics is enabled by default and can be turned off using “Share usage analytics” in Nudge Settings. Turning it off stops analytics and diagnostic collection on that device immediately. Nudge also sends the preference to RevenueCat and, while you are signed in, Supabase. Those connected services apply the preference after it reaches them; an offline device may need to reconnect first. Nudge’s features continue to work.
Events can include a randomly generated installation identifier, session identifier, event time, screen or onboarding-step name, app version and build, operating system and device model, feature actions, permission outcomes, calendar provider category, numbers of imported deadlines or completed items, focus-session duration, and subscription plan, trial, purchase, cancellation, failure, or restore outcomes. Crash diagnostics can include exception information and technical stack traces. If you sign in, analytics is associated with your internal Nudge account identifier so activity can be understood across your signed-in devices. Your account identifier is not your name or email address.
When analytics is enabled, RevenueCat’s official PostHog integration sends subscription lifecycle events, such as a purchase, trial conversion, renewal, cancellation, expiration, or billing issue, so we can relate subscription outcomes to app usage. These events can arrive while the app is closed. They can include your internal app or account identifier, product and offering identifiers, subscription status and dates, store, currency, and purchase amount. Our PostHog filters reject RevenueCat analytics events unless the synced analytics preference permits them, and remove raw subscriber attributes and transaction identifiers from accepted events. RevenueCat still processes subscription information needed to provide purchases and access when analytics is off.
For signed-in accounts permitting analytics, PostHog’s official Supabase connection imports a restricted subscription-status record: internal account identifier, status, plan, expiry, renewal setting, early-user access flags, and last-update time. A separate read-only database role cannot access account profiles, private calendar links, or transaction identifiers. This lets us relate account subscription status to app activity without importing those private fields. The connection refreshes every six hours; a synced opt-out excludes the record from future source reads. Previously imported subscription records and historical events can remain under the retention rules below; turning analytics off does not request deletion of historical data.
We do not intentionally send assignment titles, course names, notes, assignment source links, private calendar feed URLs, sign-in codes, invite codes, names, email addresses, or payment details to PostHog. Automatic capture of interface text and screen recordings are disabled. Nudge disables IP-based location enrichment and substitutes a non-user IP value in analytics events. PostHog and its network providers still receive ordinary connection information when your device contacts the service. Analytics is processed using PostHog’s United States cloud service under its privacy policy.
Notifications, background refresh, and widgets
If you grant notification permission, Nudge schedules deadline reminders, daily summaries or a morning brief, focus-session reminders, snoozed follow-ups, deadline-change notices, and a reminder before a free trial ends on your device. With Early Bird, Nudge can also show a live deadline countdown on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island using iOS Live Activities. Notification content may include an assignment title, course, due time, or a short step you entered and may be visible on your Lock Screen depending on your iOS settings.
Nudge may ask iOS for background time to refresh a connected calendar feed. iOS decides whether and when that refresh runs. Nudge’s widget uses a shared on-device app container for a limited assignment snapshot and completion count. It does not include assignment notes or your calendar feed URL.
How information is used
We use information to provide and secure Nudge, improve its reliability, and understand use of its features: authenticating an optional account, saving or restoring the connected feed URL and Early Bird status, providing Early Bird features, importing deadlines, scheduling local reminders, displaying widgets, responding to support, preventing abuse, diagnosing service failures, and measuring onboarding, feature use, purchases, and returning usage. We do not use Nudge information for targeted advertising, data brokerage, or cross-app tracking.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information. Information is shared as needed to provide features, improve and secure the service through the analytics described above, comply with law, or protect rights or safety. Current providers and platforms include:
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases and subscriptions, notifications, widgets, Live Activities, background refresh, and other iOS services.
- Google, when you choose Google Sign-In.
- Supabase, for optional account authentication, the saved calendar feed URL, the Early Bird subscription record, the synced analytics preference, the restricted analytics connection described above, and related security and service logs.
- PostHog, for usage analytics, connected subscription analytics, technical service logs, and crash diagnostics as described above.
- RevenueCat, for subscription management, entitlement checks, purchase restoration, subscription paywalls, and invite-based access. RevenueCat processes an app or account identifier, subscription and transaction information, and related technical device and service information; it does not receive your Apple payment card details.
- Resend, for delivery of optional email sign-in codes and links.
- Your calendar provider, such as Canvas, Schoology, Blackboard or your school’s hosting provider, when Nudge requests the calendar feed URL you supplied.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments. Nudge is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Instructure or your educational institution.
Retention and deletion
On-device data remains until you delete individual items, use “Erase everything,” or remove Nudge and its data from your device. “Erase everything” deletes Nudge assignments and finished history on that device and disconnects the calendar feed; it does not alter anything in your school’s platform and does not by itself delete an optional account.
If you created an account, you can permanently delete it in Nudge’s settings. Account deletion removes the account, its saved calendar feed URL, its Early Bird record, and its stored analytics preference from our backend and signs you out. Deleting your account does not cancel an Early Bird subscription; Apple bills it until you cancel it in your Apple Account settings. Assignments and other local information on that phone remain so Nudge can continue working without an account; use “Erase everything” separately if you also want to remove them. Provider operational, security, and email-delivery logs may remain under provider settings and legal obligations. Limited records may also be retained where required by law or reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, or protect the service.
PostHog analytics and diagnostic records can remain after sign-out, account deletion, or removal of local app data. These app actions reset the analytics identity where appropriate but do not themselves delete historical PostHog records. We keep analytics and diagnostics as needed to understand usage and improve reliability, subject to service settings and applicable obligations. To request deletion of analytics associated with your account, contact us at the privacy address below. For use without an account, we may need additional information to locate records associated with your installation. Turning analytics off stops future device collection and requests the connected-service preference change described above; it does not remove past event records.
Your choices and rights
Account creation, calendar connection, notifications, background refresh, and widgets are optional. You can disconnect the calendar feed, deny or change notifications in Nudge or iOS Settings, remove widgets, sign out, delete your account, and erase on-device Nudge data using the available controls. You can also turn off “Share usage analytics” in Settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information. To make a privacy request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Children’s privacy
Nudge is a general-purpose organization tool that may be useful to students. We do not knowingly collect online personal information from a child under 13 without the consent required by law. If you are not old enough to consent to an optional account where you live, do not create one without permission from a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided personal information without appropriate consent should contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, including iOS file protection for Nudge’s local data and access controls for account profiles. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure. Protect your device, email and sign-in accounts, and school calendar link. Information may be processed in the United States or another country where our providers operate, subject to applicable safeguards.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Nudge, its providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy at this URL and update the date above. Material changes will be reflected before or when the related app behavior takes effect.
